Acupuncture and IVF - one patient's story

Having a baby would be just a case of deciding when it was the right time for us. Married for 5 years and trying for a baby for 4, we found that sometimes it’s not that easy. After 2 miscarriages, numerous tests and a failed IVF, we were losing all hope. I searched the internet, looking for answers and read that acupuncture could help. I found the number for Jo and made my first appointment.

I was a little apprehensive at first but Jo made me feel totally relaxed, explaining the procedure throughout my sessions and explaining the effects on my body and my wellbeing. I continued my visits and, within 2 months, was elated to find that I was pregnant, and without any other medical treatment.

I continued with my weekly sessions to give my pregnancy, and my baby, the best possible start. It also helped me to cope with a very stressful first few weeks. I have now reached my thirteenth week and all is going to plan. I hope that sharing my experience gives hope to others in the same situation and I would like to thank Jo for her kind, caring and professional help at such an emotional and difficult time.

Acupuncture and IVF

Great news!
Another of my IVF ladies has fallen pregnant before the IVF has started. It gives me such a brilliant feeling and goes to show what acupuncture offers couples experiencing fertility troubles. I will publish their stories here soon.
Happy days.

sheffield Infertility Support group

having recently been invited to do a talk at the fertility support group, I just wanted to let you know what a great group this is.
sheffield Infertility Support SIS is run by women going through the IVF or IUI process and it offers a chance for others in the same situation to talk with others who understand. I can't believe there hasn't been anything like this group before.
When I visited, the group met above a pub and it was all very relaxed, a good turn out too to say they have only just got going. Obviously, there is a demand and I am sure it will continue to grow.
I do a great deal of work in this area and one thing that crops up all of the time is how hard it is for others to understand what it's like and how difficult it is to relate to friends already with children so this group fills in the gap.

Their website is sheffield infertilitysupport.weebly.com

Acupressure for Childbirth

Our next acupressure for childbirth workshop is all set for the 21st of November 2012  6.30 -8pm

In this practical session, you will learn acupressure for
  1. Natural Pain relief
  2. Relaxation
  3. To establish regular and efficient contractions
  4. Foetal positioning
  5. Partner Involvement

The great thing is that the pain relief you can achieve with acupressure is incredible - it can up to half the intensity of contractions. I should know - I have been delivering these workshops for over 3 years to both couples and midwives and the feedback is 100% this works!

It is also a great way to involve your partner at the birth, it offers your partner a clear and practical way to support you. No knowledge of massage or anatomy is necessary. The points I teach you are easy to learn and use in labour, either in hospital or at home.

£20 per couple

I am looking for 2 models aged 40+ to be models for cosmetic acupuncture.
Cosmetic acupuncture can help you achieve a more youthful look without the use of botox or fillers.

Seeing is believing so I would like to collect some before and after photos to post on my website.
Photos will be close up of small areas so where possible I will protect your identity if you prefere.

In return you will receive a course of cosmetic treatments free of charge.
Please see the details about cosmetic acupuncture on this site for what it can do for you.

If you are interested then please send me a head and shoulders photo to: jomoon123@yahoo.co.uk
and remember to add your contact details.

Alternatively you can call me 07971 115758.

Sure Start Children's Centres

Introducing Pregnancy Workshops at the Sure Start Children's Centres.

I am very happy to announce that I will begin running the acupressure in childbirth workshops from Sheffield's Sure Start Children's Centres.

This ties into the extension of maternity services at local children's centres and will mean that acupressure becomes more accessible for pregnant ladies preparing for birth.

Two new dates for the diary:

July 10th 2012 at Totley Children's Centre at 1.30 - 3.00pm
July 18th  2012 at Chancet Wood Children's Centre at 6.30 - 8.00pm

The workshop is designed for pregnant women and their birthing partners.
It is a one-off practical workshop that will teach you how to use acupressure trigger points during labour.
Acupressure works by stimulating the body to work more efficiently, releasing the body's own powerful pain relieving hormones; beta endorphins and serotonin.

I also teach acupressure points that have been shown to aid cervical dilation and regulate contractions so that labour progresses well. Also points to help with relaxation and partner involvement.

I can't emphasise enough how much this is for your partner too. This is a wonderful way to involve Dad in the birthing experience. This gives him a very hands on and practical way to help you and to help deliver your baby.

If you are interested in attending, I would love to see you there.

Also, my colleague Lucy Atkinson will be delivering her hypnobirthing, babycalm and toddlercalm courses from the same venues. Details you can find at her website http://www.hypnobirthingsheffield.com/

Best Regards,

Jo Moon
